REALLY it is possible, and I wish that for you.

Yes I am serious when I say it.

Fun, freedom and ease are my commitments in my business while being successful. In this post I want to prompt or prod you to STOP and consider what it would be like to remove the struggle, strain and suffering in your business life.

I know that work is a four letter word and hence a big cliche,  yet many people do get stuck in the drudgery of their work days when something else is also available. That something is to lighten up and experience some Fun, freedom and ease in your day.

There is something about life, and the culture of our time that suggests that we need to suffer to get work done and that work is hard, demanding and more. I have worked in environments where overwork and extra struggle  is expected, glorified and in some ways celebrated. When at the end of another LONG day or LONG week do you not say to yourself "I can't take it anymore"? You are not alone if you have those thoughts.

Let me also be clear about the Fun, Freedom and Ease part. What I mean in fact is that you set up rules, practices, and behaviors that allow you to accomplish your work and do that extremely well while you actually enjoy the process.

I know you might be thinking that I do not work in your company, or with your industry, or for your boss, or your co-workers or whatever it is like to live in your shoes. Correct I do not. I know that some jobs in their nature are an extra challenge and not easy. I am specifically asking you to consider for yourself; if you are suffering or working too hard for little results because of previous conditioning or cultural conditioning or good old fashioned guilt. Not rhetorical here, really ask yourself that question. If you are stressed out, feeling exhausted, and perhaps frustrated at the todo list that never seems to get done you may consider looking for some relief. It is possible.

I coach business owners, entrepreneurs, sales professionals and solopreneurs and many of them are actually interested in making their life easier and their quality of life better by understanding how to experience the fun, freedom and ease more frequently while still producing business results.

If we look at your work week, assuming a 5 day week there are 120 hours in that 5 day week. If you sleep an average of what they tell us to, and that is 8 hours a night then you are left with 80 waking hours to have “your life”. During the dot com phase, and in two other companies I worked for I put in what those cultures expected and that was a minimum 50 hour work week and often more. So that left me with few hours a day for me. The math is not even important. My point is that you spend a greater portion of your waking hours at work. Make those working hours count and try to have a great time during that time.

What experience do you want in those work hours? You are not the type of person to want less in life. Less fun, or less freedom or less ease. You want more. Am I right? Well to get to that you must start with that commitment and then understand how to recondition yourself out of the negative mindset and into the mindset of fun, freedom and ease.

To build in more fun, freedom and ease you need to operate differently and that starts with you. I can help. You also have to be willing to say NO to things that you typically say yes to. You first need to be committed to a different experience, and that means now. Just say it. I am committed to a more pleasant work experience while producing awesome results. Then you need to take stock. You must start with the facts and the facts can be easy to find. You just need to listen. When was the last time you asked and listened to your clients, or your vendors, or your co-workers or your employees. These people can have a lot of information you need to start to design what you actually want.

I used to have a client that asked to speak to me at 5 or 6 pm every time. No problem I thought at first but realized as time went on that I dreaded these late chats in the day. The client would be on a cell phone while driving and I was tired and cranky at times with no patience for the bad cell reception. It was not fun.

So I simply asked the client if there was a better time we could talk when he was not on the cell. He said he would rather speak at 7AM when he arrived at work but thought that was too early for me. NOPE, I LOVED the early call too, and we have been doing great since. This is workability, we make it work for both of us.

Part of the formula to fun is “workability” , it has to work to be fun.

What works?

And what does not work?

Start with your own workability list, make a column for whats working and another column for what is not working. Do this now while inspired and keep adding to it, you may be surprised at what you find and how easy it would be to make your life more fun through workability.

If you look and listen you will hear the answers. You may find a client that wants less but is willing to pay more, an employee that wants more responsibility but did not know how to ask or a vendor willing to offer a solution that saves you time that you want so deperately. Yes it is easy and for many my words are too simple. I get it, and offer myself up to you in a conversation to explore what it would mean to you to have all of that fun, freedom and ease.

So to summarize, is it time for you? Do you feel inspired enough, or brave enough to say I may need some guidance in achieving a new result? Many just stop when inspired. Are you one of them? Take your inspiration and tell me about it. I am here and I will listen, more so I can help partner with you to create the steps to get that result. It's about workability. Take the plunge and start this journey of inspiration and living a life you love IN your business. Thanks from the rest of us in the world, we appreciate your efforts.
